It’s been a while, to say the least. My priorities have shifted a bit, so I’ve retooled my 30 by 30 goals. Here’s some things I’ve accomplished or am working on.
-
30 Before 30:
- Take vitamins every day for a month (22/30)
Making progress. Feeling better. I need to improve on taking them at the same times on the weekends that I do on the weekdays.
- Go to the gym 5 days a week for three months (3/60)
Ponied up the $160 to work out at dawn with Julia for a week. Her 20/20/20 program is designed for gym workouts, so I’ll be taking her plan to the Y next week. I’m also looking into doing yoga on Friday mornings. We’ll see. I’m already sleeping better and seeing a MASSIVE improvement in my heartrate while doing cardio.
Go a month without caffeine
This goal had originally been three months. I haven’t had Diet Coke since, and I’ve mostly broken my caffeine dependency. Sometimes you have to be alert and didn’t get a lot of sleep, though, so this goal has been modified.
- Read one book/fortnight (13/31)
Here’s what I’ve read since last I updated:
- Mr. Peanut by Adam Ross
- Bad mother : a chronicle of maternal crimes, minor calamities, and occasional moments of grace by Ayelet Waldman
- Manhood for amateurs : the pleasures and regrets of a husband, father, and son by Michael Chabon
- The end of everything by Megan Abbott
- The political brain by Drew Westen
- The pale king : an unfinished novel by David Foster Wallace
- Visit 5 museums (1/5)
I used my Frist Center membership before it expired, going on a curator-guided tour of the Warhol exhibit with Beth.
Host a Night Cheese- Cook one new recipe/fortnight (15/31)
I’ve probably actually completed this already, but these are just the mental tally. I’ve been working to improve our diet at home, and the CSA has been a huge help. I probably would not have made zucchini-banana bread otherwise, or roasted cherry tomatoes, or …
- Help plan a local unconference
Working on it! I’m budget coordinator for BarCamp Nashville this year.
- Use my Southwest credit before it expires
Right now I’m thinking about letting my husband take a weekend trip with some friends using this credit.
- Finish novel
Progress has slowed since I realized a major inaccuracy, but I’m working to mentally untangle and reroute it.
