I’m at two weeks of eating a gluten-free, semi-Paleo diet – including a weekend where I hardly slept, thanks to a work commitment – and I’m feeling pretty good. We went to Burger Up for lunch on Sunday, and I ate a gluten-free roll that didn’t sit well, so I’m back to completely excluding grains. I started boot camp again, and I can already tell the difference in my performance. With the exception of feeling kind of hungry after the cardio intervals, I left energized.

Two other benefits? A less shaky stomach (seriously, that sleepless weekend would have made me sick any other time) and much clearer, smoother skin. Even three days in, when I met a friend for coffee, she raised an eyebrow and said, “Did you honestly wear makeup to breakfast?”

I had not. And it’s only gotten better since.

The only drawback so far is that it seems like everything is more effective, if that makes any sense. One cup of coffee does the job of two. And I developed a red wine headache after having a glass of pinot noir with dinner last Thursday, which I am sad about.
